Researching Education: The Dissertation (139X3)

This module requires you to design, conduct, evaluate and report on an empirical study, typically conducted in your own professional context. You’ll combine and apply all the learning achieved. The module requires you to:
- have a highly specialist focus on an individual area of education, showing deep subject-specific and research knowledge, understanding and skills, in addition to professional learning
- develop a systematic and rigorous approach to the research process, working in an independent way, supported by small-group and individual supervision.
The module includes:
- designing an empirical study with appropriate research questions
- undertaking an ethical review
- conducting the data-collection, data-analysis and evaluation at the required level
- producing findings and recommendations for practice that could inform other professionals’ understanding in this area of education.
