Spring teaching

This interdisciplinary module will develop the research and employability skills that are in high demand in the workplace.

You will build on your data handling skills, progressing to the manipulation and interpretation of high-throughput sequencing data. The widespread applications of these skills include:

  • genetic regulation
  • gene discovery
  • cancer biology
  • epidemiology.

You will also develop research skills in experimental design, laboratory competence and scientific report writing through lab sessions (including a mini-project). This will prepare you for your independent research project in Year 3.

You will also have the chance to initiate and develop a project, expanding your wider employability skill set.
